About
Janell Weaver, Special Education Advocate
“Advocacy is empathy, compassion and community at work.”- Janna Cachola
Janell is a non-attorney special education advocate and the mother of two children who qualify for special education services. She has been advocating for them and other children in central Pennsylvania for over ten years and deeply understands the intense emotion that comes from being a parent of children with special needs.
Janell believes all students can thrive in school given the right supports. She's passionate about ensuring parents are knowledgeable regarding their children’s right to FAPE and guiding them to become strong advocates for their children. She's just as passionate about working with schools and believes building a positive home/school relationship is vital.
Janell graduated from East Stroudsburg University with a degree in Nursing and has worked for 20 years as a registered nurse. She is a member of COPAA and has successfully completed the highly respected SEAT 1.0 and SEAT 2.0 training courses. She is skilled in advocacy, leadership, communication, networking, and event organization. Janell will work tirelessly for you and your children and looks forward to a day when her services are no longer necessary.
